Your Brain is a Wonderful Place - Rachel Medlock

Rachel and I gelled from the very beginning of starting this project together.

As a neurodivergent creator, illustrating Your Brain is a Wonderful Place was incredible special and affirming. When I was drafting the illustrations, it felt like I was finally able to let my own chaotic, messy and…well, wonderful…brain do it’s thing. I will always be grateful to Rachel for allowing me the time and space to do that.

Your Brain is a Wonderful Place was illustrated using my iPad and Procreate.

I used a brush set that mimics traditional coloured pencils, as I wanted to capture that playful and child-like whimsy that I think comes across so beautifully with paper and pencil, but is sometimes missed in digital illustration.

The colour palette was inspired by Rachel’s own branding, keeping bright colours with warm undertones at the front and centre.
